15 hours per week, term time only
Fixed term contract until 24.07.18 with potential extension.

Required from February 2018 or as soon as possible.

We are looking to appoint a flexible, committed and enthusiastic Learning Mentor to give personalised support to our pupils. You will complement the work of Class Teachers in addressing the needs of children who require support to overcome barriers to learning. This position can be combined with that of a general Learning Support Assistant to create a full time position for the right person.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Calm under pressure
  • Good at communicating
  • A team player
  • Will understand how children learn
  • Committed to inclusion
  • Have an NVQ level 2 or 3 equivalent (desirable but not essential)

Every pupil’s achievement matters to us, and we are determined to provide the best possible underpinning for success, whether in study habits, motivation, key skills or pastoral support. This post will involve supporting one to one and small group learning: experience of tutoring or supporting learning is useful, but the key requirements are initiative and an absolute belief in the potential of all.

Visits are warmly welcomed, so if you would like to see the school or speak to our Headteachers, Yasmin Ashraf or Catherine Gent, about the post prior to application, then please contact the school office on 01444 246532.  Application form, job description and person specification are available to download from the WSSfS website.

Please apply in writing addressing the person specification above with your letter and application form (with the post applied for marked clearly) by email to bursar@sheddingdean.co.uk .

Sheddingdean Community Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. If your application is successful you will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion or beliefs, disability, nationality, ethnic or national origins.
