P.E
‘Physical education makes every child stronger and every life longer.’
PE Intent
At Sheddingdean Primary School we enjoy all things active and intertwine movement into everything we do. We aim to make PE an enjoyable learning experience for all, which inspires children to pursue active lifestyles both now and in the future. We want children to understand and appreciate what a healthy lifestyle is and how this is linked to both physical and mental wellbeing. At Sheddingdean we want children to discover a wide range of sports, games and disciplines and allow them to develop their skills of movement, as well as to develop and apply their interpersonal skills, including determination, self-belief, honesty, teamwork, respect and passion by working together.
Implementation
We follow the Real PE scheme and all children have two taught sessions of PE weekly.
Swimming is taught in Key Stage 2 so that children are able to meet the required standard for swimming.
We belong to Mid Sussex Active and attend locality sports festivals and events to broaden the opportunities our children have to get active
Our yearly 'Sports Week' raises the profile of sport and inspires children to try a range of new activities whilst having fun and getting active!
