Safeguarding
The issue of child protection is taken very seriously. All staff have been ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ (Enhanced) checked and all regular parental helpers are required to undertake the process.
The Headteachers are the designated member of staff for Child Protection.
The Business Manager keeps a register of the applications. Newly appointed staff are subject to rigorous checks prior to starting work. The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy DSL have undertaken special training and all other adults have also received child protection training. Staff are vigilant for any sign of abuse or neglect and would report any concerns to the head teacher or deputy.
Security
Cloakroom doors at the front and back of the building are secured when the children have entered school in the morning and afternoon. The pedestrian gates to the front playground are locked after the children have entered school. These gates remain locked during the school day. All classes have access to fire exits which are numerous throughout the school.
Parents/carers, who collect children from school during the day for whatever reason, are requested to report to the office so that we have an accurate record of children's whereabouts. Your child will be collected from the classroom for you. When returning your child to school again (if he/she has been withdrawn for a short time) please report to the office.
