Religious Education
“Differences were meant not to divide but to enrich”
Our intent
- To learn knowledge and understanding of different religions.
- To discover, sometimes through first-hand experiences, different festivals, rituals, ceremonies, lifestyles and customs.
- To develop their ability to consider, discuss and respect different viewpoints together and be inspired by significant religious figures.
- To achieve an understanding of the values that different religions and cultures share.
Our R.E Curriculum Implementation
At Sheddingdean, our RE curriculum explores various religions and world views. Children learn about different beliefs, teachings, rituals, ceremonies and lifestyles. Children are provided with first hand opportunities to discover and develop their knowledge of different religions, as well as their communities, personal development, wellbeing and values. They are able to identify, investigate and respond to a variety of issues, sharing ideas and discussions together.
Our lessons provide a high quality, coherent and progressive experience of the subject, with scope for cross-curricular learning. SMSC, personal growth and community cohesion are featured throughout to ensure opportunities for children to develop positive attitudes and values and to reflect on and relate their learning in RE to their own experiences.
Though this broad, rich and enjoyable curriculum children achieve an understanding of the relevance of RE in today’s modern world and how it affects our lives, developing respect and understanding for one another's views and beliefs.
